Tim Burgess has been announced as ‘Love Record Stores’ Day Ambassador. The Charaltans’ frontman is playing a key role in curating activities around the event which takes place on Saturday 20th June 2020.
Tim, who has been extremely active during the C-19 lockdown and whose Tim’s Twitter Listening Party has attracted a huge social media following, is a passionate advocate of independent record stores and the author of the acclaimed Tim BookTwo – Vinyl Adventures from Istanbul to San Francisco, an ode to record shopping.
Tim says, “The idea of what we would do without physical record shops has been a question we’ve asked in the past, but now it’s looking more possible than ever and we need to do whatever we can to help. Record shops are like drop in therapy centres for me – there’s a calmness, a familiarity and a sense of belonging that I don’t feel in many other places. A chance to talk with like-minded people – and maybe be reminded that you didn’t know as much about music as you thought you did. Like an animal threatened with extinction – we need to organise ourselves to try and stop it happening. Record shops have been good to me since I first ever spent time on my own – they’ve been good to us, let’s do what we can to help.”
An incredible 24 hour online party is being curated for #LRSD together with the aforementioned exclusive record releases. #loverecordstores is also in partnership with the Music Venue Trust to support their #saveourvenues campaign.
We will be in touch of course with further details about #loverecordstores but, until then, please help promote the event whenever you get the opportunity by visiting and promoting the Love Record Stores Day blog or Instagram @LoveRecordStores, Twitter @LoveRecsStores or Facebook @LoveRecordStores.
There are also the hashtags #loverecordstores and #LRSD to be used as appropriate when posting on social media channels.

Shop life isn’t normal shop life at the moment. The physical shop has been closed since Saturday 21st March. We are all now in a crazy, scary COVID-19 world. For record shops, just like the majority of retail outlets, survival is the name of the game. With no bricks and mortar shop for the foreseeable future, it’s time to focus on the internet side of things to see if it can help us maintain the shop and business.
Here’s a few albums that folks have got in touch to buy this past week. #shippingsoon.#Queensofthestoneage #TheXX #SuperFurryAnimals #FranzFerdinand #MariaMckee #CurrentAffairs
If you are interested in any singles or albums, please get in touch. Thanks, Ken x
Strand Records is an independent record shop situated in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, UK. The shop opened in 2013. This is our very first blog post so please be patient with us. We are folks of a certain vintage and we are finding our feet blog-wise.
We LOVE music and we want to share experiences of listening to, and generally engaging with, various genres of music. We will be posting details of music releases past and present and hope to introduce readers to some new sounds and maybe reacquaint them with some old faves.
Although we are new to blogging, please note that we are on the following channels; Twitter@strandrecords, Instagram strandrecordstoke and Facebook Strand Records.
